Summer 2026: A Summer Transformation at the Buffalo Peace House

This summer brought an incredible transformation to the outdoor space at the Buffalo Peace House. What began as overgrown, waterlogged and largely unusable backyard has been transformed into a beautiful, welcoming space for our resident families to enjoy.

Over the course of the summer, BPH families, volunteers and friends of the Buffalo Peace House came together to clear years of overgrowth, install a French drain, reclaim the yard with new grass, install raised beds for fresh produce and create open areas for gathering, relaxing and play.

The difference is remarkable. But this project was more than improving our property. For families who have experienced displacement and uncertainty, having a safe and peaceful place to call home matters—and that includes having outdoor space where children can play, parents can sit at the picnic table beneath a tree, and families can simply enjoy being together. The transformation also reflects something at the heart of Buffalo Peace House: when people in our community come together and contribute what they can, extraordinary things can happen!

We are tremendously grateful to everyone who gave their time, energy, expertise, materials and financial support to make this project possible. What was once an overlooked part of our property is now a space filled with possibility—and one our families can enjoy for years to come.
